WHAT IS HYPERTILT?
WHY IS HYPERTILT BETTER THAN BIG WIND?
We are still early in development. We hope to show through additional prototype testing and third party evaluation that HyperTilt has many advantages over conventional big wind turbines:
- EFFICIENCY : Initial computer simulation models of the simplest un-optimized HyperTilt system calculates the efficiency to be a consistent 32%. This number alone is as good as or better than most conventional turbine systems on the market today. With further analysis and development we are confident that we can increase this number even further. - COST : Our current HyperTilt design utilizes cheaper blade materials than big wind. Also, the ability to utilize flexible fabric blades would lower transportation costs, and manufacturing costs compared to those required to fabricate conventional fiberglass and carbon fiber blades. |

- QUIET OPERATION : The fast blade rotation speeds of conventional big wind turbines cause noise issues. HyperTilt operates at a low tip speed ratio so high speed blade noise issues would be reduced.
- SAFE OPERATION: HyperTilt must be oriented into the wind much like a conventional turbine. The HyperTilt system incorporates a safety mechanism that allows safe shut-down at dangerous wind speeds. When the track is turned out of the wind no energy is captured by the blades and the system is allowed to coast much like a wind vane.

WHERE CAN HYPERTILT BE USED?

The finalized commercialized HyperTilt system is still under development. We believe that if we can maintain our low cost modular design and validate our power output efficiencies many new market segments will become financially viable:
- UTILITY SCALE : HyperTilt can be scaled up to incorporate large blades and multiple blade modules to output power at utility scale. - COMMERCIAL SCALE : If we can achieve higher power output at lower wind speeds it would open the door for commercial customers, (large retail chains, manufacturing facilities, corporate offices, etc.), to exploit the wind energy potential of their brick and mortar locations. |
- RESIDENTIAL SCALE : The validation of increased efficiencies combined with our commitment to modular construction practices can reduce manufacturing costs to the point that residential wind power can become a viable financial model.
- HYDROPOWER : The HyperTilt system has many advantages that would make it a powerful generation tool in tidal, ocean current, and run of the river hydropower systems.
- DEVELOPING NATIONS : Simple blade geometry and small number of custom components means HyperTilt kits would be perfect low cost solutions for remote power generation. Many components can be sourced locally which would help grow local economies.
- HYDROPOWER : The HyperTilt system has many advantages that would make it a powerful generation tool in tidal, ocean current, and run of the river hydropower systems.

HOW IS HYPERTILT GOING TO BEAT BIG WIND?
- INTERNAL TESTING : We are moving forward with the next round of wind tunnel ready prototypes. We continue to simplify, cost reduce, and enhance, the HyperTilt mechanism.
- INDEPENDENT VALIDATION : We are proud to have been selected to be one of the first ten pilot projects to be run through the state and federally funded design innovation institute, DMDII, in partnership with UILABS. We will use advanced simulation and analysis techniques to verify the performance of the HyperTilt mechanism. - 3RD PARTY TESTING : The optimized HyperTilt system will be validated through external wind tunnel testing. - INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS : We are entertaining partnerships and licensing opportunities with experienced wind manufacturers, distributors, installers, and operators. |
